General Information
The University of Iowa Mental Health Clinical Research Center (MHCRC) unifies
phenomenology and neuroscience. We seek to improve the precision with which
specific disease categories are defined and to increase our understanding of
their underlying mechanisms and causes. Our primary emphasis is on schizophrenia
spectrum disorders, including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, schizophreniform
disorder, and schizotypal personality. Studies of other major mental illnesses
are also included here because the boundaries between schizophrenia spectrum
disorders and other psychoses such as mania or severe depression are not clear.
