Welcome to the Biostatistical Core Unit

A major objective of the Mental Health Clinical Research Center (MH-CRC) is to provide a unifying and organizing vehicle for research efforts from a diverse assortment of disciplines involved in research in the major psychoses. The Biostatistical Core Unit aids this goal by serving as a centralized facility for a variety of services and activities required by the MH-CRC, as well as associated research units and special projects.

Central to the purpose of this core unit are the provision of biostatistical consulting and collaboration for both the MH-CRC Core and for the research units, the development and continued maintenance of a common centralized data base and a small computing facility. The unit provides support to the MH-CRC Cores and its associated research projects at all levels of investigation, beginning with the formulation of testable hypotheses, planning the design of studies, and developing measurement techniques. Support and consultation continues through management of the core data base, and concludes with aiding in the interpretation, presentation, and final writing of results.
